Scratchbuilt Buildings for 15mm Sci-Fi

I've been having a bit of a flurry of activity lately on the modelling front so thought I'd show you the fruits of my labours with the styrene, wire and bottle tops. 

I'm not entirely sure what it is that I've built - I think its some kind of military outpost with a comms relay, defence turret and some kind of power generator gizmo thingie. I just sort of cut out the base and started sticking things to it...

The turret is from Old Crow and is the same as the nose cannon I put on my heavy dropships. It rotates, of course!

 Power cables were done using guitar wire as usual.

The circular things used on the turret ring and power gizmo are the same washers I use for my basing. The rectangular thing at an angle is a Tau leftover from yesteryear I had floating around.

Antennae and such to give this building a sense of purpose. The main mast is a paint brush handle from a brush which bit the dust.

 Reinforced door to keep out the nastiness, complete with sensor lens and keypad.

I plan to paint these up in an off white/tan kind of colour and do the base in my usual desert style. I need to find some decent white primer first though as the plastic these are made of is a nightmare adhesion wise - I had to do a lot of sanding and scoring.

I have a couple more buildings in the works as well, including a heavy AA turret that looks like it could certainly down some heavy dropships.

Now I have to work out where I'm gonna store this...

15mm FOW Scratchbuilt MG Bunker

I saw the great results the guy at 20mm and then some had with scratchbuilding bunkers so I thought I'd have a go at one in 15mm using roughly the same method. You can see the results below, I didn't quite get the wood to look as I would have liked; it turned out to close to the soil colour. Otherwise I was fairly happy with it.  I'll probably do a couple more in the future but these will be lower (I'll use cocktail sticks) and will have more earth covering the roof.

The construction was fairly simple; I built the basic hollow shape out of cut up bits of sprue glued onto a medium base; cut up barbecue skewers and glued then together to make the front and roof; used pieces of wire (I had no cocktail sticks) to make the reinforcing stakes; and covered the whole thing generously in polyfiller and sand before painting and adding sillflor tufts and static grass.

1/100 WW2 French Buildings (FOW)

I'm currently waiting for new supplies to come in so I can finish off the stuff on the bench but until that happens here's a few pics of an old scenery project I did a few months ago for the fun of it. Personally I really enjoy doing buildings, easily as much as figures or ships or whatever. In this case all the buildings I knocked up were made simply from card and paper with paints, sand, flock etc. All the buildings are scaled to FOW bases; the shed fits one medium stand, the cottage two and the farmhouse loads. All of the roofs are removable. These were enjoyable to build (although really time consuming) so one day hopefully I'll get round to doing more.

I was very pleased with how the ivy - flock - turned out.  

The roof got a ton of washes; green, brown black and some strong tone dip, I left the shine as it looks like it's  rained recently. 

Really basic interior to allow troop placement.

The inside of the farmhouse has removable floors which rest on corner supports (not pictured).

The trellis above will have vines wrapped around it when painted. Should give it an authentic French look. 

A breach in the rear wall, perfect for an AT gun. 

Tbh all of these need mounting on MDF bases as the cardboard is simply gonna warp given a little time, but it was all I had to hand.
